BlackCherry Punch: Following the Final Weeks From Flower to Harvest
A Continuing Grow Journal From Paradise Compassion Club
Growing cannabis isn’t a single moment captured at harvest. It’s a progression—and sometimes the most interesting part is watching how much can change during those final few weeks.
We’re going to follow some of our BlackCherry Punch through that process, from late flower all the way to the finished, cured buds.
Rather than creating a different article for every stage, we’ll keep returning to this page and updating it as the grow progresses.
About Five Weeks From Harvest
A few weeks ago, we came home to find our downstairs BlackCherry Punch room looking like this.

The room was full, the canopy had developed nicely, and the flowers were beginning to stack—with approximately five weeks of flowering still ahead.
Five weeks may not sound like much after months of growing, but in flower it’s a considerable amount of time.
Buds that already look impressive can still develop substantially as the plants continue through their final weeks.
That’s one reason we enjoy photographing our rooms throughout a grow. When you’re looking at the plants every day, gradual changes aren’t always obvious. Put photographs from several weeks apart beside each other, and the difference can be remarkable.
Watching the Flowers Develop
As harvest gets closer, our attention increasingly shifts toward the flowers themselves.
We’re watching how the buds are stacking and filling out, resin development, overall plant condition, and how individual plants are progressing.
We don’t believe a calendar should be the only thing deciding when a plant is finished.
The estimated number of weeks gives us a useful reference point, but ultimately the plants tell us when they’re ready.
A Closer Look at BlackCherry Punch
Sometimes a photograph doesn’t quite capture it.
Our video gives you a closer look at the BlackCherry Punch flowers as they develop and shows details that can be difficult to appreciate in a still photograph.
This is one of the reasons BlackCherry Punch has been such an interesting cultivar for us to grow. Watching the flower structure and resin develop during the final weeks is part of what makes cultivation enjoyable—even after you’ve been doing it for decades.
We’re Still Experimenting
Experience doesn’t mean you stop experimenting.
We also have BlackCherry Punch growing in a smaller experimental room where we can observe plants under somewhat different conditions and compare the results with our larger rooms.
Using the same genetics gives us an opportunity to compare flower development, plant structure, environmental response, and eventually the finished harvest.
Sometimes an experiment confirms what you already suspected. Other times it surprises you.
Either way, you learn something.
Next Stop: Harvest Day
This is where we’re going to leave the story for now.
When the BlackCherry Punch reaches harvest, we’ll return to this article and add the next stage:
UPDATE — HARVEST DAY
We’ll show what the plants looked like immediately before they came down and document the harvest.
UPDATE—DRYING
We’ll follow the flowers into the controlled drying environment.
UPDATE — CURING & FINAL RESULTS
Finally, we’ll show the cured BlackCherry Punch and look back at the different rooms to see what we learned.
Instead of showing one photograph of a finished bud, we’ll have a record of the journey from late flower through the finished cure.
Check back as we continue following this BlackCherry Punch from flower to finished cure.
